  5. Thank you for trying the Painter Classic demo CD! This 
  6. demo version contains all the great Natural-Media features
  7. of the full product.  However, when using the demo version
  8. you will not be able to save or print your artwork. 
  9. In addition, the full retail version includes hundreds of
  10. pieces of additional content in the form of photos,
  11. brushes, paper textures, nozzles, color blendings, lighting
  12. and patterns.

  16. step-by-step Tutorial Guide. We strongly suggest you print
  17. this guide and work through the step by step lessons. They
  18. will provide a good overview of the program. Please note

  46. PAINTER CLASSIC'S INTERFACE

  48. Painter Classic's interface is organized across a series
  49. of main menus and a set of floating palettes. There are
  50. four main floating palettes: the Tools palette, Brushes 
  51. palette, Art Materials palette and Controls palette.  
  52. Utilize the User Guide and take the time to explore what
  53. each of these palettes can do.

  55. PAINTER CLASSIC'S BRUSHES
  56. It is the incredible Natural-Media(r) brush engine that 
  57. separates the Painter family of products from all other 
  58. graphics programs. If you spend a little time investigating 
  59. how the brush engine works, Painter Classic will open up 
  60. as the most incredible art program you have ever used.

  62. SEAMLESS TILING
  63. Seamless tiling makes Web projects a snap with an easy star
  64. switch right on the document window.  You can utilize an 
  65. existing image or develop your own within a small area,
  66. then repeat it perfectly over the entire Web page.

  68. IMAGE HOSES AND CLONING
  69. The image hose paints with a variety of changing images.
  70.   Experiment with the images and thevariations you can use.

  72. NOZZLES
  73. The Image Hose Nozzles  work differently with different variants.  
  74. Experiment to see the effects.

  76. TEAR-OFF TOOLS
  77. Don't overlook the new Tear-off Tools. Grab any brush 
  78. (like the Pencil) and drag it off the palette. Presto. 
  79. You've created a custom palette. You can drag any 
  80. of the tools onto a custom palette.

  84. SCRIPTING
  85. Scripts allow you to record every action you make in Painter
  86. Classic. Scripts are similar to video tape.  You can record
  87. and play them back at any time from the Script palette.
  88.  
  89. The recording process is simply a matter of clicking record, 
  90. then Stop and then naming the script.  When you're done, the 
  91. script appears in the palette.

  93. To erase a script, select delete from the  pop-up menu at the
  94. bottom of the palette. Select the script you want deleted and
  95. click delete.

  100. COMMON PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS

  102. - Painter Classic only supports the Photoshop 3.0 plug-in API 
  103.   (not 4.0). Plug-ins, like Alien Skin Eye Candy, which 
  104.   require the Photoshop 4.0 filter API will not work 
  105.   with Painter.

  107. - Several Adobe Photoshop 4.0 plug-ins are designed to work
  108.   only with Photoshop. They will appear in the Painter menus,
  109.   but will not run.
